The NCAS Surf Life Saving Program is supported and endorsed by Surf Life Saving NSW and the underpinning North Coast branches including Far North Coast, North Coast, Mid North Coast and more recently, Lower North Coast. The NCAS program also works closely with local Surf Lifesaving clubs to deliver the program.
The strength of the partnership between NCAS and the supporting branches is further enhanced by having coaches from each branch being appointed as assistant coaches of the NCAS squad which allows for ongoing coaching, monitoring and encouragement in between NCAS squad camps.
As well as intensive training camps, squad members also receive a sports education program including modules covering sports nutrition, sports physiology, sports psychology, media training and sport & community drugs awareness.
The primary focus of the program is the identification and development of athlete’s skills and fitness in preparation for branch, country, state and national titles of the coming season.
Each new squad undertakes an athlete induction, fitness testing on the board, a ski & swim assessment, skills assessment using video analysis on board and ski, and a general discussion of season preparation and training requirements.
