From April 11th to 13th, over 100 athletes, coaches, and managers from the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) joined the state’s most promising young talents at the 2025 Your Local Club Academy Games in Tamworth. Organised by the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS), this event marked the first year of a three-year tenure in Tamworth.
With participants from 11 Regional Academies across New South Wales, more than 1,500 athletes and their families competed in this prestigious tournament. NCAS stood out as a top performer over the weekend, demonstrating exceptional talent and skill across all their squads despite facing tough competition. The impressive results of their efforts are detailed below:
Basketball
The NCAS teams showcased their skills and determination throughout the competition, making a strong impression both finishing in 4th place. Ben Romer and Natalie Nawauwi were named in the All Star Five Team.
Golf
Max Neal secured 2nd place in the Boys category on Saturday, demonstrating his exceptional talent. In the Sunday Teams Event, the NCAS team secured 1st place in Division 2, showcasing their teamwork and dedication.
Netball
Matilda Newton from NCAS was named an MVP for Div 1, and Asha Ledingham was named an MVP for Div 2, highlighting their outstanding performances.
Triathlon
Trent Alley secured 2nd place in the Junior Male category on Saturday. The NCAS triathlon team put in a strong performance, with their athletes gaining valuable experience and showcasing their determination throughout the competition.
Hockey
The NCAS U16 Girls hockey squad claimed 1st place, showcasing their dominance and exceptional teamwork. The entire hockey squad worked incredibly hard throughout the tournament, demonstrating their dedication and effort. Although they did not place, their perseverance and teamwork were evident, and they gained valuable experience for future competitions.
