The NCAS Golf Program is supported and endorsed by Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) and supported by Coffs Harbour Golf Club . The NCAS Golf Program has the specific objective of identifying talented junior golfers and providing them with a level of coaching and ancillary athlete education that will assist them in taking the next step in the sport of Golf.
The program is designed to expose golfers to skills testing and training designed by JNJG, new challenges and opportunities, and to complement any lessons / training you are receiving from your local Club/Professional. The program will look to communicate at regular intervals with home coaches so the development of the athlete is well supported.
The NCAS Golf Program Curriculum is under the auspices of PGA Professional Matt Allen. The program is a camp based program supplemented by a tournament and an Academy Games tour. Squad members will undertake a musculoskeletal screening at commencement of the program. The purpose of this screening is to assess an athlete’s movement patterns to identify limitations or asymmetries. Each test is specific to the golf swing. Therefore limitations or asymmetries found in this screening may affect performance and injury potential. Should limitations or asymmetries be detected, recommendations for corrective action can be followed. Athletes also receive an athlete education program, including sports nutrition, injury prevention & management, sports psychology, media training and drugs awareness.
